Before your turf arrives
New-build gardens often hide rubble and compacted subsoil under a thin layer of topsoil. Dig over the ground, pick out stones and debris, and rake it level and firm.
If the soil is thin, add a layer of topsoil before you lay. Lawns root far better into good soil.
